Hello Friends!

I've been MIA lately on social media because I've been very focused on finishing my long overdue new website. With that done and the start of my new blog I thought I'd take the time to reintroduce myself, tell my story, share why I do what I do. For those I've yet to meet... Hi. I'm Wendie your horse addicted photographer from Aullmyn Photography. While designing my website I went way back into old galleries. I found it cathartic to see how this little dream of mine has evolved over the years, how much I've grown personally and professionally, the connections I've made, friendships built, all the animals and humans I've fallen in love with. It made me really think about how horses have always been such a profound part of my life and how greatly they have enriched mine. From having horses in my childhood to becoming a working student, then a groom, to serving clients in the tack industry for 20 years and now having my own business built on my love of horses, capturing their beauty and the love they bring into our lives, I'd have to say I didn't lie when my Father asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up and my answer was firmly "anything with horses". They have been a life long passion of mine and though I didn't know photography would play such an important role in my life I'm so grateful to my dear friend that lent me her camera to take out to the barn because that day I discovered a way to express my love of horses through images. I quickly saved up to buy my first Canon Rebel with a Sigma 70-300 Lens. Back in those days I would go to the barn, take a bunch of pictures, and drop off the unfinished roll of film immediately (yes I said film) just so I could see what I captured. Boy was I excited the day I got my first Canon digital camera. The ability to satisfy my immediate gratification by being able to shoot and upload was a game changer.

Here's my first Camera now decorating my bookshelves. I love the reminder of where it all began.

In 2012 friends and family had convinced me to turn this little hobby of mine into a business and that is when Aullmyn Photography born. Incase you're wondering it's pronounced "All Mine" and if you want to hear the story behind the name you'll be surprised to know it has nothing to do with horses or photography ;). For the next 4 years I continued pursuing this dream part time photographing everything and anything I could, learning, failing yet growing along the way. In 2016 my job of 20yrs at AKH was coming to an end. I was freaking out a little. As I'm typing it actually made me think of a riding experience I had once. I was riding a young green horse, the jump was an X set to the top of the standards. On my approach I started to panic, I couldn't feel or see the distance because we were kind of weaving our way towards the jump. I tried to center him, trying to avoid jumping the high side, but instead put my leg on and left long. I pulled left, he went right and you know how that story ends but I did what nearly every equestrian does, I got back in the tack and jumped again. This is how I was feeling about my future, I couldn't see the distance and I was scared. I knew if I decided to take my business full time I just might be taking the big leap and fail but what if I didn't? If there's one thing being a horse girl has taught me it's to be brave, go big or go home as they say, and if you fall off you get right back on. What a ride it's been!! Leaving long is a risk but I'm glad I took it (to any non horse person reading this, I'm sorry). Over the last 8 years so many animals and humans have touched my heart deeply. I've been humbled by the opportunity to capture the essence of who my clients love most, to give them tangible memories that bring them joy and even comfort in difficult times. I have developed some pretty freakin amazing relationships with my clients that have grown into cherished friendships, framily. I'm so grateful to everyone that has not only trusted in me but have come back time and time again allowing me to capture their precious moments, to document their lives in and out of the barn and continue to refer me to their friends and family. It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge that without each and every one of you I wouldn't be where I am today and the horses, oh the horses, I can't even begin to express my gratitude. They have been at the core of everything I do, they are my why, my inspiration, my heart of hearts. My love for these majestic animals has given me the strength, passion and courage to chase my dreams and turned it into something I never thought possible. Thank you will never be enough. So here's to another year filled with love, gratitude and making new memories…..and muzzle smooches. Hope you like the new website!
